The new event will highlight the value of gastronomy as a feature of regional identity and generator of wealth.

The first Andorra Taste event, to be held from 14 to 18 September, will bring together chefs from the Principality and around the world, producers and tourist industry professionals to explore the unique nature of mountain cuisine.

The Prat del Roure in Escaldes-Engordany, the event sponsor, will be host to a hundred professionals from mountain areas around the world, who will present the unique characteristics of the high-altitude ecosystems where they produce their creations, in relation to the concepts and values taking root in world gastronomy, such as authenticity, local produce, territory and sustainability.

Andorra Taste will present a life-time achievement award to Michel Bras, a chef whose work at his Bras a Laguiole restaurant (France) has made a huge mark in recent culinary history.

The Andes Mountain range will be the guest region at this first event, with the chefs Rodolfo Guzman from Boragó in Chile, Samuel Ortgea from ShamuiCo Espai Gastronòmic in Ecuador and Aníbal Criollo from Naturalia in Colombia attending.

Other international chefs at Andorra Taste will include the Slovenian Ana Roš from Hiša Franko; the Danes Mette Helbæk and Flemming Schiøtt Hansen from Stedsans in the Woods; Nacho Manzano from Casa Marcial; Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch from Disfrutar and Fina Puigdevall from Les Cols, among others.

The gastronomy of the Principality will be represented by a number of chefs, including Carles Flinch from Can Manel; Oriol Rovira and Òscar Villalba from Les Pardines 1819; Francis Paniego and Jordi Grau from Ibaya; Marcel Besolí from Celler d'en Toni, Josep M. Kao from Kao Soldeu, and Dolors Pal and Josep M. Troguet from Borda Raubert.

Andorra Taste will combine professional conference events with activities for the general public and sessions for children.
