“Altitud vs. Latitud”
From 18 to 12 September, Andorra Taste, the international meeting of high-mountain gastronomy, will take place for the third time. This year, under the slogan "Altitude vs. Latitude", this unique event will host prominent Nordic chefs from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. Together with renowned local and international chefs, participants will explore and analyse similarities and differences between Andorra's distinctive mountain products and cuisine and the emerging culinary innovations of Northern Europe.
Exploring similarities and differences with Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland
Four pioneering countries in the new Nordic cuisine scene, which has made them stand out on the world gastronomic map. They have managed to focus and concentrate on their products, converting their gastronomy into a tourist attraction that captivates culinary enthusiasts from around the world. Denmark is renowned for its emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients, along with innovative cuisine that has spawned world-famous restaurants such as Noma. Norway is famous for its high-quality seafood and its commitment to the purity and freshness of its ingredients. Swedish cuisine combines traditional techniques with modern approaches, highlighting the use of wild and fermented products. In Finland, their culinary expertise is revered for enhancing natural flavours and achieving simplicity, by integrating ingredients from the forest and the sea into their dishes.
With their presence, Andorra Taste 2024 seeks to form connections that make it possible to comprehend such seemingly different realities that are yet so close at the same time. Gastronomy is a unifying thread between cultures, which shows how we can find common ground and celebrate our differences through food.
With its long mountain tradition, Andorra has much to learn from and share with the Nordic countries. Just as these countries have succeeded in making their cuisine a tourist attraction, Andorra also has the potential to excel on the international gastronomic scene. This partnership will not only enrich our mutual understanding, but will also open up new opportunities for Andorra's culinary and tourism development.
The best chefs are in Andorra
Once again, professionals from different parts of the world gather in our country to debate, through gastronomy, on identity, sustainability and the future direction of high mountain territories.
