This summer, step into the Engolasters forest and discover a unique artistic installation. Along the Camí del Mig, near Lake Engolasters, you’ll come across 70 hand-modelled clay faces emerging from among the trunks of the pine trees.

The Guardians of the Lake, an installation by artist Pilar Montecino, is inspired by one of Engolasters’ most mysterious legends, which tells of an ancient village hidden beneath the lake’s waters. Each face, created using natural clay and organic elements, blends into the landscape and invites you to experience the forest from a new perspective.

This temporary installation brings art, nature and legend together in one setting. Over time, the wind and rain will gradually transform the artwork until it once again becomes part of the landscape.
