Location and contact
Pla de l'Estany
The manned shelter located at 2,260 m above sea level is open from the beginning of June to mid-October. It was inaugurated in 1992, can accommodate up to 49 people and serves mountain cuisine. It also provides the traditional facilities of this type of accommodation (bunk beds, mattresses, bed linen, showers, toilets, telephone, radio, etc.) and has mobile phone coverage.
The Comapedrosa Shelter is closed in winter as is located in an area with a high risk of avalanches, making it inadvisable to go there without experience.
The most common access on foot starts out from the car park in the Arinsal sector of the Pal Arinsal ski resort, where you take the Camí de l’Estany de les Truites trail.
The shelter, located inside the Comapedrosa Natural Park, is one of the waypoints on the GRT (cross-border), the GRP (Andorra) and the GR11 trails, as well as being one of the starting/end points of the circular Coronallacs trail.
It is also part of the Entrepyr network, a cross-border project that facilitates treks in the Pyrenees by promoting manned shelters in French, Spanish and Andorran territories. Bookings for all affiliated shelters can be made directly through the Entrepyr website.
