This celebration has its roots in the birth of Christ in Bethlehem, and is surrounded by legend and mystery.

The origin, the name, the number of kings and their method of transport has changed throughout history until the modern-day festivity and celebration, which is held in countries with a Catholic tradition.

It is celebrated on 6 January, combining the Feast of the Epiphany and the visit of the Magi, the latter now the most popular meaning of the day in Catholic countries. It is also widely celebrated in several Latin American countries.

The Three Wise Men, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar and their whole entourage of pages and letter-carriers visit all the parishes in the Principality.
