MTB route 10 Canillo - Soldeu - Cubil Tour

12.5 km

Height difference

+690 m / -690 m

This circular route, which is 12.5 km long and features a 690 m total change in elevation, starts and ends at the same place, at the bottom station of gondola lift TC8 located at an altitude of 1800 m in car park 1 in the Soldeu sector of the Grandvalira ski resort. From here, it starts a climb along one of the busiest ski slopes during the winter season: Gall de Bosc. It is a continuous ascent, so we recommend taking a few breaks to enjoy the incredible wooded landscape that you are leaving behind and will go through again as you descend. Once you reach the end of the Gall de Bosc slope, you’ll be at the highest point on mountain bike route 11, at 2800 m, where you’ll find a flat area, a beginners’ slope in the winter. A bit further up is the Riba Escorxada refuge, in case you want to make a final push and visit it. Returning back to the beginners’ slope, we should point out that this is one of the places where you need to be most attentive to the signs and your GPS as it is here where MTB routes 10 and 11 diverge. In this case, continue up along the slope on the left until you reach the top station of the TC8 gondola lift in Soldeu. We recommend that you take a break at this point of the route. You can recharge your batteries at one of the restaurants with views of the golf course, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

As soon as you are ready, you can tackle one of the first descents of the route, which begins just below the gondola lift. It is a somewhat technical descent and extremely enjoyable; it takes you onto one of the dirt tracks, to continue upwards towards the highest point of the route at an altitude of 2370 m.

Here you'll begin the descent along an open, natural and fast stretch. You'll need to be on the lookout because on the right you will find a sign that will lead you along the trail into the forest and it is here that the technical descent of this route begins. It is a descent along a path that will put our bike skills to the test, because even though it is not very steep, the terrain is made up of a combination of roots and rocks and this makes it quite technical for those who like these types of routes and, without a doubt provides a great deal of fun! The descent is divided into two parts. At the halfway point we cross a dirt trail, so if you found the first part a bit too complicated, even though the route continues through the forest, you have the option to follow the trail towards Soldeu. But if you enjoyed it, then you are ready to continue with the indicated route.

As soon as you leave the forest you'll find a dirt track that will lead you back to the starting point, ready to enjoy the gastronomy available in Soldeu and recover your strength after this fantastic pure MTB route!

The route takes 2 hours 15 minutes. Suitable for mountain biking and e-bikes.
