Although a visit to the Comapedrosa Natural Park will already guarantee you the chance to observe the sky in all its immensity, you can also travel to the two viewpoints in the parish for an even better look. The La Roca de la Sabina viewpoint, in Arinsal, and Coll de la Botella vantage point, in Pal, are perfect for stargazing.
Observing the stars
In the safe hands of professional guides and Starlight monitors, you will travel the sky from end to end capturing all its beauty. Naked eye observation, constellations, the mythology surrounding them, the best times of year to look at the stars or the map of our sky are some of the interesting things you can learn from astronomical outings.
During the winter season, from 1st December, on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays you can sign up for the night tour with snowshoes. You can enjoy the tranquility of the snowy landscapes by learning to use snowshoes and marvel at the beauty of the night sky, from the Coll de la Botella vantage point. In the summer, from July to September, you can observe the stars with outings to the Coll de La Botella area. Although it is not a walk per se, you have to have the appropriate footwear and clothing, as it is a nighttime activity. It is also advisable to take some kind of blanket to sit or lie on the ground.
Observing the stars is open to everyone, with no age limit. More information is available at La Massana Tourist Information Office (+376) 835 693, turisme@comumassana.ad.
