Christmas in Ordino

2025-12-05 - 2025-12-24

Christmas Fair
Between 5th and 8th December, Ordino, a Biosphere Reserve since 2020, is hosting the traditional Christmas Fair, turning the entire town into an authentic Christmas market.

Located in the centre of town, it is distributed across two squares and along Carrer Major. In Plaça Major, you will see an imposing tree decorated with the best Christmas garlands, and in Plaça de la Closa there will be wooden huts offering visitors various gastronomic products typical of the festive season. These wooden huts can also be found on Carrer Major, selling a wide range of handmade and very Christmassy products.

Alongside the market there is a programme of activities for all audiences taking place day after day, from the traditional turning on of the lights, to carol singing by local choirs and groups, Tió Christmas Log scavenger hunts, storytelling, workshops and an academy to learn how to be a good menairon.

You can also find Christmas tree baubles, a new one being created every year. This year's is dedicated to the new ORDINO MAGIC CIRCLE project, which you can discover throughout the Ordino valley.

Representation of the Bear
The Children’s Bear and the Last Bear of Ordino attract the attention of the audience. This performance, in the style of a burlesque farce, is staged by the Ordino Popular Culture Association. This year, it will take place on Sunday, 7 December at noon, at Prat de Call. Both pieces are part of the Bear Festivals of the Pyrenees, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, along with 'The Bear of Encamp' and other festivals in Alt Vallespir.

Midnight Mass
During Christmas Eve, the traditional Midnight Mass will take place in the Church of Sant Corneli and Sant Cebrià. Before the service (11:30 p.m.), there will be a performance of the Song of the Sibyl.
