Casa d’Areny-Plandolit Museum
Location and contact
Carrer Major, s/n
It is the only example of a stately home in Andorra that has reached our days intact. The Casa d’Areny-Plandolit is in the centre of the village of Ordino.
The family owes its social standing to Guillem d’Areny-Plandolit, Baron of Senaller and Gramenet and the First Syndic of the General Council of the Andorra Valleys, who led the New Reform of 1866. He is an illustrious figure in the history of Andorra and for his work in the iron forges, one of the most important industries of the time.
The original building dates back to the 12th century and has been refurbished several times. The tour takes us to 19th and 20th-century Andorra and shows us many objects that are unique and exclusive to this family, who were very important between 1600 and 1900, the only family with nobility titles in the principality at a time when luxuries and comforts did not exist in Andorra. You can also see the Andorra National Auditorium located next door, as well as the gardens of the estate.
The Casa d’Areny-Plandolit forms part of the Andorra Rural Habitat Circuit.
