Winter activities in Andorra
EXPERIENCE THE SNOW IN ANDORRA!
Although we know that alpine skiing is one of the most popular winter activities practised or requested, we have to say that there are lots of other offers available in our country which are perfect for your whole family to enjoy the snow to the full.
Snowshoe adventures, skimo trips, driving a snowmobile or flying over the principality's valleys in a helicopter! But that’s not all, as we’ve also been thinking about the kids, who can now slide down the slopes on a tubby, ride down in a sled and learn about the country's flora and fauna.
STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE THERE IS TO DO AT OUR RESORTS?
Whilst there are over 300 km of slopes in Andorra, our resorts offer more than just skiing, with a wide range of fun activities to enjoy solo, as a couple or with the whole family.
Grandvalira offers activities in almost all of its sectors. In the Grau Roig sector, you can go on snowshoe excursions, build igloos and give yourself an adrenaline rush by driving a snowmobile! If you need to warm up, the restaurants Piolet Brasserie, Llac de Pessons and 3 Estanys will be open.
In the Canillo sector, you can explore the Mon(t) Màgic Family Park, which has a wide range of activities for the whole family. You can whizz down the zip wire, fly down the slope on a sledge or have a ride on the park’s star attraction, the Magic Gliss slide, where you can enjoy Magic Quest: a virtual reality game that gets more and more exciting the further you go! In this sector, you can get a bite to eat and warm up at the Roc de les Bruixes restaurant.
In the El Tarter sector, you can go snowshoeing, practise skimo (ski mountaineering) or try dog sledding, and the doors will be open at the Obac and FunFood cafés – the latter in Riba Escorxada. As for restaurants, the Trattoria will be open and you’ll be able to taste delicious Italian dishes, as well as other specialities.
Grandvalira also offers family-friendly activities at its Soldeu centre. Here you can go sledging, slide down the snake gliss or enjoy a family snowshoe excursion. With a wider variety of cuisine on offer, in this sector you’ll be able to enjoy various food and drink experiences: savour exclusive meals at In the Snow Veuve Clicquot, enjoy exquisite dishes with a more consolidated and delicious offer at the Wine and Meat Bar by Jean Leon restaurant, and try the truly special, magical dinners on their menu, under the moonlight.
If you like walking and going on outings in the snow, you can also enjoy guided ski mountaineering excursions with the Grandvalira Mountain Guides (GMG) programme.
Finally, Grandvalira also offers places to spend the night at the resort. With your Epic Andorra experience, you’ll not only have the adventure of sleeping in the resort, you’ll also get to savour our traditional mountain cuisine made with 100% local products, along with exceptional activities!
The first thing that springs to mind with the mention of Ordino Arcalís is freeride. Its location and aspect (north-facing slopes) make it the perfect place for this form of skiing. It has more than 20 zones and 130 off-piste ski routes, making it a world centre for the sport, hosting major international events such as the Freeride Word Tour, among others.
But that’s not all! With more than 30 km of slopes, visitors can also enjoy other snow sports, like downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiles. The last two can be done during the day, but also as night falls when the resort has one of its evening dining experiences.
Grab a bite to eat at the café in Planells d’Ordino Arcalís, at the Les Portelles Mountain Hut restaurant, the Borda de Coma restaurant or at the Borda de Sorteny Hut. The latter also combines their culinary experience with mountain excursions when there’s a full moon.
In the La Massana resort, Pal Arinsal is also opening its sectors so that you can practise skimo (ski mountaineering) or go on snowshoe excursions. You can also whizz along the Big Zip zip line or launch yourself from 1, 3 or 5 m up in the air on the Big Airbag. As for restaurants, the Coll de la Botella restaurant will also remain open. One of the best-loved restaurants in the resort, you can enjoy traditional soups and stews; perfect for warming back up!
In the Arinsal sector, you’ll find the Snowpark, a freestyle area with jumps of varying heights, bars, kickers and many other areas where you can get something different out of the snow.
Naturland also opens its altitude 2000 section, giving access to all its activities, including snowshoeing excursions, cross-country skiing, skimo routes and Snow Scooter or MoonBike driving sessions! That’s not all: the resort also has a sledging area for adults and kids alike! At the weekends, you can make the most of the tobotronc, one of the park’s star attractions. If you still have a thirst for more, you can also throw yourself down the Forestline or complete the acrobatic circuit N'Boscat. If you get peckish, why not try a delicious hot meal at the Borda de Conangle restaurant?
Finally, we would like to remind you that access to the activity centre is directly from altitude 2000 throughout the season or altitude 1,600 at weekends, during holidays and school holidays.
