Andorra's Romanesque churches will once again open their doors throughout July and August. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, they are part of the country's cultural heritage and preserve evidence of life and architecture from that period.
During your visit, a guide will accompany you and explain the history of each church, its architectural features and the stories and details that make it distinctive.
You can visit Sant Joan de Caselles and the Meritxell Sanctuary in Canillo; Sant Romà de les Bons in Encamp; Sant Climent de Pal in the village of Pal, La Massana; Sant Miquel d'Engolasters in Escaldes-Engordany; and Santa Coloma in Andorra la Vella.
Your visit to Santa Coloma Church can be complemented with a visit to Espai Columba, where the original frescoes from the churches of Santa Coloma and Sant Esteve are preserved, together with an exhibition dedicated to Romanesque and medieval art. Inside the church, you can also enjoy a video mapping projection that virtually recreates the mural paintings that once decorated the apse.
If you would like to discover part of Andorra's cultural heritage this summer, check the opening hours and plan your visit.
