MUSHING IN ANDORRA

DEM REISEPLAN HINZUFÜGEN I WANT TO RESERVE

Mushing is skiing by dog sled and can be enjoyed in summer and winter alike! For snow lovers, there are two different routes available, taking you on the Riba Escorxada (Grandvalira-El Tarter) circuits and to the Adventure Activities Centre (Grandvalira-Grau Roig). Mushing rides are also available, either with an expert guide or steering the sled yourself. The Valls d’Orient area offers fun activity packages for the whole family, such as our ever-popular “Nordic Adventure”, which combines a 90-minute mushing tour with an hour on snow bikes.

Mushing in summer, on the other hand, is a slower-paced, more peaceful experience that really lets you enjoy the natural landscape and views around you while you ride the dog sleigh. The route circles Canillo’s Mon(t) Màgic lake, with views of the landscape surrounding the entire Forn area where the park is located. The rides last 15 minutes and don’t worry – no prior experience is needed! Summer mushing is very calming – perfect to enjoy with the whole family, with a group of friends or with your partner. This activity is suitable for guests aged 6 and above.

The Mon(t) Màgic Family Park can be found in the Canillo section of the Grandvalira ski resort as is perfect for the whole family, with plenty of activities especially designed for our younger guests! There are also things to do whatever the climate, be it rain or shine. Mon(t) Màgic Family Park boasts a spacious sun terrace, with many food and drink services on offer, from sandwiches to à la carte dining and bars, as well as many useful guest services, including a left-luggage office, a storage facility for ski equipment and a retail store for specialised sports items. Check out the official Mon(t) Màgic Canillo website for full information on special events, opening times and more activities. Make sure you check our activities calendar and plan your visit in advance to avoid disappointment!

Discover mushing

Mushing is the ideal activity for those who love both animals and spectacular views. Dogs pull your sled along snowy paths deep in the forests of Grandvalira! Do note that the price of the activity does not include insurance, but this can be taken out separately. Insurance covers exclusively all those activities performed within the ski area.

Mushing in the snow is a very popular activity during the winter months and mushing sleds are typically pulled by Nordic dogs. While riding the dog sled, participants really get the chance  to enjoy nature by speeding through stunning tracks and forests. The dogs are expertly trained and, crucially, they love what they do. They instinctively know which ways are the safest and are also extremely faithful. This activity is suitable for small groups of people.

There are various different mushing activities on offer, including a 2 km (1.25 mi) sled ride, a 3 km (1.9 mi) sled ride, a 5 km (3.1 mi) sled ride, family plans (2 adults + 1 child, or 2 adults + 2 children), a premium experience consisting of a 10 km (6.2 mi) night-time ride combined with dinner at a luxury restaurant and even an experience where you can drive the sled yourself!

As well as being a sport, mushing is a traditional Nordic way of covering great distances when paths are frozen or covered by snow. A musher, or expert guide, will lead both the sledge and the dogs and the sleds have a capacity for three adults, or two adults and two children.
