On 22 November at 12 noon, the Auditori Nacional d’Andorra, in Ordino, celebrates Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music, with a very special concert entitled Emotional Intelligence: Learning through Musical Emotions. Conceived and directed by Albert Gumí, the event brings together the country’s young musicians and invites the audience to discover how music can awaken, express and help us understand our emotions.
The first half will be performed by the Andorra National Classical Youth Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Andorra la Vella Music Conservatory, in collaboration with the Andorra National Classical Orchestra. The programme features works by Gluck, Dvořák, Grieg and Kodály, and culminates in the world premiere of Albert Gumí’s Symphonic Variations on a Traditional Andorran Theme.
In the second half, they will be joined by the Music Schools of the Principality of Andorra and the Our Lady of Meritxell Private Foundation to perform the Suite of Essential Emotions, also by Albert Gumí. Five movements that set joy, sadness, anger, calm and pride to music, drawing on much-loved local melodies such as the Ball de la Marratxa, the Marxa del Consell and the Ave de Meritxell. A concert to stir the emotions and reconnect with traditional Andorran music. Don’t miss it!
