In Ordino, Carnival events and activities take place over three days, this year on 13, 16 and 18 February.

One of the highlights is the staged performance of the farce The Smugglers, which in recent years has become a must-see event. The performance involves several local associations and is organised by the Ordino Popular Culture Association, with the collaboration of Esbart Valls del Nord, the Ordino Youth Centre, the Grallers and Tabalers of the Castellers d’Andorra, and the Coral Casamanya.

The plot revolves around the confusion caused by a group of quirky foreigners who get lost in the mountains and are mistaken for smugglers by the authorities. A fun, popular story that guarantees laughter and a festive atmosphere to enjoy with family or friends.

Friday, 13 February
6 pm. Hanging of the Carnival King Carnestoltes and hot chocolate at Plaça Major.

Monday, 16 February
12 pm. Performance of The Smugglers at Plaça Major.
1 pm. Traditional broth and meat stew for everyone at Plaça Major.

Wednesday, 18 February
7 pm. Burning and reading of the Carnival King’s will, followed by a popular sardine feast.
