Volta als Ports

Multisegur Volta als Ports 2020

09-08-2020

The Multisegur Volta als Ports will include a ‘sterrato’ section in the longest and most demanding route.

The country’s longest-established cycle tourism event will have some new features for its 43rd edition. A ‘sterrato’ stretch at Les Pardines will be added to the longest and most demanding 4-star route, emulating part of the route from the Andorran stage of the 2019 Vuelta a España.

With this new configuration, the 4-star route of the Volta als Ports will be 114 km long, with 3,460 m of elevation gain. The other circuits will remain the same as in the last edition. The 3-star route – also very demanding – will be 81 km, with 2,322 m of elevation change; the 2-star route, with medium difficulty, will be 53 km, with 1,873 m of elevation change; and the 1-star route, designed for newbies to cycle tourism, will be 27 km, with 1,109 m of elevation change. As typical for this event, all routes will take place on roads open to traffic.

The Multisegur Volta als Ports is one of the points of reference on the cycle tourism calendar for Catalonia, Spain and France. The longest route, and most prominent thanks to its difficult and demanding nature in each edition, will be twice as challenging this year. Besides following the route of the Andorran stage of the 2016 Tour de France, it will also have the special addition of the Les Pardines ‘sterrato’ section from the 2019 Vuelta a España.

Date and place: Sunday, 9 August 2020. Starting point for all routes: 8:30 am, Parc Gran del Prat del Colat (La Massana). Finish: Coma d’Arcalís (Ordino), at 2,225 m.
