The Collada de Beixalís Route lies at an altitude of 1,795 metres and runs through the parishes of La Massana and Encamp. The latter is home to Pic de Padern, a mountain standing at a height of some 1,857 metres, from where you can enjoy the impressive panorama of the Escaldenca and Madriu valleys. You can also see how the northern and eastern Valira valleys converge to form a single valley, which is home to the source of the River Gran Valira.
Going up to the Collada de Beixalís we pass through forests of Scots pine and mountain pine, tobacco fields and flowering meadows, with an abundance of chicory. In the open spaces of the meadows it is easy to see rock buntings, carrion crows and, during the migration period, the willow warbler or the common redstart. At Beixalís pass and Pic de Padern, particularly during the migrations, we can see the black kite and birds of prey at any time of year such as the vulture, the bearded vulture and the buteogallus.
Level: Easy
Duration: 1 hour aprox.
