If you are a MTB or enduro lover, this will be one of your favourite routes in Andorra as it takes in a spectacular route and one of the best MTB descents Andorra has to offer.
We will start this 15.1 km route with 600 m in elevation gain at Canillo Tourist Office. From here we will head towards the Palau de Gel before taking a right at the roundabout and beginning the climb up the Coll d’Ordino mountain road, taking the CS-240, known as Montaup road. Halfway up this ascent is the famous Mirador del Roc del Quer, with its 20-metre walkway, of which 12 metres are suspended in the air atop a glass floor. At the end of the viewpoint there is a sculpture by artist Miguel Ángel Gonzalez, the perfect place to take in the spectacular views of the Montaup and Valira d'Orient valleys.
Before we reach the top, we’ll cycle past the Tamarro Nilo. These figures are scattered all over the country and are a must-see for the little ones!
We finally reach the top of Coll d'Ordino, which is the highest point on our route, with an elevation of 1,995 metres. Here we leave the road behind and head into the forest along the so-called inter-parish trail, but be careful because in just a few metres there'll be a sign telling us to turn left onto a path that will take us to Planell de les Basses. This point marks the beginning of a spectacular descent through Bosc d’en Som woods, which hides some fast and technical sections, which is why it is a red route, meaning that it is recommended for more experienced mountain bikers.
The descent will leave us on the C-G2 main road that will take us back to Canillo, where the route will end.
This route takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete. Suitable for mountain bikes and e-bikes.
