Scenarios - Carmen Thyssen Museum

16 van March - 14 van January

Andorra’s new Carmen Thyssen Museum occupies the ground floor of the old Hotel Valira in Escaldes-Engordany.
Its inaugural exhibition, “Scenarios”, has a selection of masterpieces from the Carmen Thyssen Collection.

The opening exhibition at the Carmen Thyssen Museum will take visitors on a journey through the major artistic movements that emerged from the late 19th century through to the end of the 20th century. The exhibition is titled “Scenarios: From Monet to Estes, from Trouville to New York” and features a carefully selected sample of works by the great masters of Impressionism (including American Impressionism), Catalan Modernism, German Expressionism, Social Realism, Cubism, Fauvism, American Hyperrealism, and the landscape genre.

The 26 works on display are all on loan from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection and include paintings by Ramon Casas, Anglada Camarasa, Gauguin and Richard Estes. They offer visitors an opportunity to discover the fascinating world of each of the artists featured.

The Museum also makes use of new technologies to offer a different perspective of the works on show, with a series of touchscreens that enable visitors to access additional information on each painting. Likewise, visitors can also enjoy a free audio tour of the exhibition.

The Museum has also completed the “Edu Carmen Thyssen” project, which aims to transcend the institution’s physical boundaries and help popularize art through the use of fun educational materials and activities for young people.

Venue and dates: “Scenarios: From Monet to Estes, from Trouville to Nova York” can be seen until the January 2018 at the Carmen Thyssen Museum, Av. Carlemany, 37, Escaldes-Engordany.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday closed.
