Calder. The geometry of colour

ARTALROC, the exhibition hall of the Government, is holding an exhibition on the works of the American artist Alexander Calder, which will run until 2 September.

Alexander Calder (1898-1976), American sculptor, painter and cartoonist, is internationally known and admired for his sculptural works: the iconic mobiles (Mobile) and also his static pieces (Stabile).

ARTALROC lets you discover Calder the painter, a facet he developed throughout his entire career, in the exhibition “Calder. The geometry of colour”. A selection of 48 gouaches made between 1939 and 1976. Works that are basically abstract and play with identifiable forms and geometric objects, such as the solar system, pyramids, spheres and shapes with faces, interpretable in a thousand and one ways.

At the exhibition you can also see one of his featured mobile sculptures: “The Red Crescent”.

Organisers: Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Omer Tiroche Gallery in London.
