The network of Museums managed by the Government of Andorra is a fun way to get to know Andorra’s long and unique history. It’s made up of a wide and varied range of museums that you’ll find very interesting. Take part in the activities held during the year and discover the transformations and vicissitudes that Andorran society has been through over time, such as the great transformation experienced in the second half of the 20th century which defined the Andorra of today.
Andorra’s museums will show you these changes from different perspectives.
“Canya als Museus” (Go for It at Museums) Activities
20/11. Visit the Farga Rossell Museum. With the help of the educational booklets “Els museus donen joc” (Museums serve many purposes), discover the Farga Rossell Museum and have fun solving all the puzzles. Farga Rossell (la Massana), 12.00 and 16.00. In Catalan.
27/11. Guided tour of the Abracadabra: il·lusionisme i màgia a cal Plandolit (Abracadabra: Illusionism and Magic at Cal Plandolit) exhibition. Discover the international renown that the Areny-Plandolit family enjoyed due to their ties to the world of magic, especially in the first half of the 20th century. Era del Raser Exhibition Centre in Ordino. At 13.00 and 17.00. In Catalan, Spanish, French and English.
04/12. Come and discover “L’objecte intrús” (The Intrusive Object) at the Casa d’Areny-Plandolit Museum. This interactive activity will give you a different perspective. You’ll take the lead as you put your eyesight to the test to try to discover which objects have been added to the museum’s collection. Activity for all ages, at 12.00 and 16.00. In Catalan, Spanish, French and English.
04/12. Guided tours of Espai Columba and Casa de la Vall. Two must-visits to get to know Andorra’s identity. Activity for all ages, at 12.00 in Spanish and 16.00 in French.
11/12. “Intimagia”, a magic show by Joaquín Matas, a renowned Catalan magician who pays tribute to parlour magic with a burst of irreverent humour, colloquial language and the participation of the audience. A powerful show at Casa d’Areny-Plandolit. Sessions at 13.00, 15.00 and 17.00. In Catalan, although magic is a universal language. €6 with a visit to the Abracadabra: il·lusionisme i màgia a cal Plandolit (Abracadabra: Illusionism and Magic at Cal Plandolit) exhibition included. Christmas is coming to historic house museums. From 15 December to 8 January, the Casa Rull Museum (Sispony) and the Casa d’Areny-Plandolit Museum (Ordino) gear up for Christmas. The two museums go all out with the adornments and traditions with which this holiday was celebrated at the beginning of the 20th century. In each museum, you’ll find different costumes differentiated by the inhabitants’ social class. An exhibition for all audiences, in Catalan, Spanish, French and English.
18/12. Christmas wreath workshop This holiday, surprise your loved ones by decorating your house with your very own wreaths. Ko & Ko and the Department for Museums and Monuments are holding this Christmas workshop so you can learn to make them using natural materials such as pine cones, branches and different pieces of fabric. Espai Columba (Santa Coloma), from 11.00 to 13.00. In Catalan.
“Playmobil rural habitat”. From 22 December to 9 January 2022 in the lobby of the Museu Casa Rull (Sispony). Three-dimensional rural scene with projection mapping to show the passing of the seasons on the countryside, with the rivers coming to life and maintains changing tones. Work by the young audio-visual artist Daniel Arellano. Free entry.
Escape the room game - “L’enigma de l’escriptor” (The Writer’s Enigma). The novel by the Andorran writer Joan Peruga Últim estiu a Ordino (Last summer in Ordino), with the Areny-Plandolit family as the main characters, is the starting point of the game. You’ll have one hour to solve the different riddles and tests that, considering the history of the family, will allow you to find the key without which you won’t be able to leave the historic house museum.
You can face this challenge on 23 December and 4 January, each with two time slots: at 12.00 or 16.00. For ages 16 and up. Advance ticket sales.
16/01/22. Concert - “Renaix romànic” (Romanesque Renaissance). The guitarist David Sanz brings together music from the Renaissance for string instruments and Andorra’s heritage of Romanesque art.
