SHOP IN ANDORRA FESTIVAL
There's no doubt that the major shopping event in our country is the Shop in Andorra Festival, so far called Andorra Shopping Festival. When autumn arrives, the main streets and commercial areas throughout the country burst with colour, presenting the new items and the latest fashion trends. It's an event with activities for everyone and includes children’s entertainment, live music and cuisine, as it coincides with Andorra a Taula, the Principality's gastronomic fair.
Christmas markets and fairs
If you visit us during the holidays, you can't miss out on the Christmas markets and fairs that are held in different places within our small country. The streets are filled with magic and a thousand colours to welcome the most anticipated festivals of the year, especially for the youngest members of your family.
In Andorra we also like to celebrate the holidays, and we do so grandly – no holds barred!.
Christmas Village in Andorra la Vella
Andorra la Vella, the capital city, becomes a Christmas Village whose heart is the unique Christmas Market, which with its wooden houses, atmosphere and music will transport you north to the home of Father Christmas. You will find stalls of all kinds, ranging from artisan goldsmithing to products to decorate your home. Here you can choose the perfect gifts for your loved ones. You can also buy local gastronomic products as well as enjoy numerous shows, live music and activities for the youngest members of your family!
Craftsmanship, tastings and music in Escaldes-Engordany
Coming to Escaldes-Engordany is "The Taste of Advent," a unique Christmas market where – from the beginning to the middle of December – in addition to traditional craft stalls you can also sample dishes created by the best local chefs against a backdrop of live music.
Santa Llúcia Fair
Despite being held to mark Saint Lucy's Day, on 13 December, the traditional fair of Santa Llúcia usually runs through to Christmas. In Encamp, Ordino and Sant Julià de Lòria, many stalls await where you will find all kinds of items to decorate and liven up your home.
Make the most of the key moments
The wide and varied commercial offer in Andorra has a few dates that you must mark on your calendar so as not to miss the best shopping opportunities of each season. These are the sales that take place every year. In both summer and winter, the sector revolutionises the country with the discounts it offers. From the end of June to the beginning of September, summer's hottest sales take place. And from late December to early March, the winter sales campaign, which spans from February to mid-April, is extended to include winter clothes and sports equipment. Another date to remember to enjoy significant discounts is Black Friday, an international campaign in which numerous commercial establishments from all over Andorra participate.
You can find more bargains at Vide Dressing in La Massana, the country's leading second-hand clothes and accessories fair, which is held in both spring and autumn, so you can update your wardrobe as the seasons change. The second event in the autumn, which is usually held during the month of November, is dedicated to sports equipment and material under the name Videsport.
Shopping for both interior and exterior well-being
Unique events are held throughout the year that combine shopping with complementary activities to offer a different and attractive experience for all kinds of audiences and ages. Held in July in La Massana, La Serenalla Market is a multidisciplinary event that seeks to enhance personal well-being and sustainability, where you can buy natural products, relax, take a creativity workshop or taste local gastronomic products, among other activities. There is also live music. Also in the parish of La Massana, the town of Arinsal hosts La Pitavola del Comapedrosa between the end of September and the beginning of October, a popular festival that celebrates the creation of the Natural Park of the same name. There you will find a market offering local products and various activities and workshops that celebrate and showcase the natural park, along with a nocturnal culinary route.
Fairs and traditional markets
One of the best examples of a traditional market is the Mercat de la Vall d'Andorra. It takes place on the first Saturday of each month during the period from May to October in the old town of Andorra la Vella. Here you will find creative crafts, natural cosmetics and local culinary products, among others.
Travel back in time
Held every September, the Sant Julià de Lòria Medieval Festival transforms the town's centre to transport you to a market that's straight out of the Middle Ages. In the stalls and streets set for the occasion, you will find handmade jewellery, clothing and crafts that range from home-made marmalades, cheeses and sausages, to sweets of all kinds that are sure to make your mouth water! Music from the period and a number of fun activities and workshops make this medieval village ideal for the whole family.
Other events
Mention should also be made of a couple of specialised events that have become a part of the calendar in Andorra. There's Andoflora, the plants and flowers fair-market, which takes place every year in La Massana in the middle of May.
Meanwhile, Andorra la Vella brings together the fans of two-wheeled vehicles during Motand, the festival that revolves around motorcycles and all their accessories and equipment. It combines shopping opportunities with exhibitions of classic bikes, displays of skills, tourist routes, music and children's activities.
