This viewpoint shows the urban growth of the country and Andorra's evolution from an agricultural and stockbreeding country of around 5,000 inhabitants in the 20th century to a totally urban and tourist country of nearly 80,000 today. The parish that most noted the increased population was Escaldes-Engordany, which was forced to build on the hillsides, both in the sun and the shade.
Another interesting point here is the bird life. The birds have adapted to living in the urban centres, and have changed their nests in high-mountain tree trunks for warmer and safer nests in the comfort of gardens and houses. The blue tit, the blackbird, the common sparrow and the European serin are some examples.
Finally, you can also enjoy the flora brought from outside the country. In decorating the streets and gardens, man has facilitated the colonisation of non-local species such as the olive tree, the Siberian elm, cedars and cypress.
This viewpoint is adapted to facilitate universal accessibility and information. It offers content in Braille, palpable reliefs and QR codes, which offer descriptions in signs language and locutions for people with visual and hearing disabilities in various languages. In addition, its design allows the access of people with reduced mobility.
You will find more information about this and other guided walking routes in the Andorra Mountain Guide.
