The Camí de l’Óssa starts at Plaça del Consell in Encamp, and crosses the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, declared Heritage of Mankind in 2004. The route follows local paths and different sections of the GR 7 and GR 11. Along the way, we will pass the Fontverd mountain hut (alt. 1,880), Riu dels Orris hut (alt. 2,230) and l’Illa hut (alt. 2,480), where we will spend the night if we are going to do the whole crossing.

The scenery along the way is very pretty and varied; aside from an infinite number of lakes, we will have spectacular panoramic views: we will climb Pic dels Pessons (alt. 2,858) and the Pic de l’Alt del Griu (alt. 2,874). Once back in Encamp, we will pass the Ensagents mountain hut (alt. 2,425) in idyllic natural surroundings. We have to take everything we need to spend two days and one night in the mountains, as there are no eating points on the way (just water).

We can do this route free, under control or accompanied by mountain guides.

The route starts at the centre of Encamp in Plaça del Consell (42° 32' 10",1° 34' 56").

For your safety, we recommend you do the routes at altitudes of over 1,700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. However, if the weather and terrain conditions allow it, the season may extend from May to October.
