This is a viewpoint of the 'bordes' and els Cortals d’Encamp. The 'bordes' were made of stone, wood and slate to store the grass cut from the meadows and to close in the animals at harvest time. The 'cortals', which were a set of 'bordes', were built away from the village and were inhabited by families of peasants from spring to autumn, while they looked after the herds and worked on the fields.
Another variety that can be seen from this viewpoint is the black pine forest, which grows between altitudes of 1,700 and 2,400 metres. A special feature of these pines is that they are trees that grow on acid lands and are capable of surviving extreme cold and heat.
Finally you can see the undergrowth of the black pine, dominated mainly by 3 bush species: The alpenrose, the bilberry and the juniper.
This viewpoint is adapted to facilitate universal accessibility and information. It offers content in Braille, palpable reliefs and QR codes, which offer descriptions in signs language and locutions for people with visual and hearing disabilities in various languages. In addition, its design allows the access of people with reduced mobility.
You will find more information about this and other guided walking routes in the Andorra Mountain Guide.
