The MW Museum of Electricity takes you on a journey through the history of electricity production in Andorra and is divided into three areas: The first room is currently home to an exhibit on the construction of roads in Andorra, the second room explains about energy, what a current is and how we produce electricity at a hydroelectric plant, as well as the evolution of the electrification of the country in the 20th century, and the last room contains fun and educational experiments aimed at understanding electrical phenomena. Here you can see two generators from the hydroelectric plant that were installed in 1934.
As an additional activity, from May until September the MW Museum of Electricity offers you the chance to follow the Engolasters hydroelectric route, a journey through the production of electricity, where you will visit the inside of the damn at the Engolasters lake, walk thorough the channels that capture the water from the rivers and where you will discover the secrets of electricity production.
Services: Free audio guide tour or book for a guided tour. Duration: 1 hour. Maximum capacity: 50 persons per visit. Advance booking is advised for groups of more than 10 people. The museum also offers primary and secondary school activities and workbooks. The museum has a shop inside and is adapted for people with limited mobility.
The visit to the Museum of Electricity is included on the route 5 of the Andorra Tourist Bus, from June to October.
