CHURCH OF SANT SERNI DE NAGOL
Posizione e contatto
Sant Serni de Nagol
It is known for its Romanesque paintings. This is a small building which follows the typical architectural layout of the Romanesque churches of Andorra: a rectangular nave with a wooden roof and semi-circular apse. It has a gabled bell tower with a double opening and the porch was probably attached in modern times. Inside, the apse is covered by a quarter-sphere vault, there is the original altar and part of the Romanesque decoration (12th to 13th century). Of the liturgical furniture we especially highlight the processional thorny cross in the Romanesque Art Interpretation Centre in Pal and the 15th century alter these dedicated to the church’s patron saint, the first Bishop of Toulouse, with the anagrams of Christ and the Our Lady the Mother of God.
