Our shops and businesses accept all kinds of credit cards, meaning that you won't encounter any problems when making purchases or carrying out any other kind of financial transaction. This page provides detailed information on banks and currencies so that you can plan for this important aspect before your trip.

Andorra enjoys an extensive network of bank branch offices and cash points so that you can manage your banking affairs. In Andorra you will find five banks:

There are branch offices and cash points in every parish, where you can withdraw cash. The links above provide addresses and maps so that you can see their exact location. Opening hours are generally Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Many banks are open at noon but close at the weekend. All the same, we advise visiting each bank's website to find out their specific opening hours.

Cash can be withdrawn from Andorran banks using all leading debit and credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard or American Express, among others. You can also use these same cards to pay for your purchases at all kinds of commercial establishments: shops, supermarkets, restaurants, recreational business and many more.

If you have any doubts on how our banking system works, you can visit the official website of the

Association of Andorran Banks.

The euro (€) is the official currency in Andorra. Andorra used Spanish pesetas and French francs as its de facto currencies until 2002, when it adopted the euro, the currency used by its neighbouring countries. Moreover, the Principality signed a monetary agreement with the European Union in 2014, allowing us to issue Andorran euros. You will therefore find euro coins embossed with Andorran motifs: the coat of arms of the Principality on €2 coins, the Casa de la Vall on €1 coins, the Santa Coloma Romanesque church on 50, 20 and 10 cent coins and a Pyrenean chamois and a bearded vulture on 5, 2 and 1 cent coins. More information is available (in Catalan) on the designs of our coins and our monetary history at the official website (in catalán).
