A COUNTRY TO ENJOY 365 DAYS A YEAR

You can’t fit everything Andorra has to offer into just one season. Whatever time of year you visit, there is always something to do in Andorra!

Andorra is a country that never stops: there are plenty of activities for the winter season and for the summer for even the most dynamic, restless travellers. With all the sports, leisure and shopping options on offer, you can put together a jam-packed itinerary for your trip. Or, if you’re looking for the ideal place to slow down and escape the daily grind, Andorra has all the tranquillity you’re dreaming of.

These are the two sides of the same place, which hides treasures for all tastes among its mountains. This is why we have put together this guide to what to do in Andorra during your trip. Read on to find out more!

PLANS FOR ACTIVE TRAVELLERS

If you like to make the most of every last second of your trip, Andorra has plenty for you. First, we have a range of sports activities. When the cold and snow are on the horizon, the country gets ready to welcome skiers, snowboarders and other snow lovers who know all about the quality of our slopes. You can find world-class slopes at Grandvalira, Ordino Arcalís and Pal Arinsal, or try out cross-country skiing in Naturland.

If you prefer walking, there is a huge variety of routes within your reach. There are trails in all the country’s parishes and for all experience levels, with spectacular panoramic views around every corner. In fact, much of the country is covered by three large nature parks: Vall del Sorteny, Valls del Comapedrosa and Madriu-Perafita-Claror. The latter has been named a World Heritage Site by Unesco in the cultural landscape category.

When it comes to leisure and culture, Andorra has all sorts to offer. The events calendar is packed throughout the year, even in autumn and winter. The country’s theatres and stages play host to the biggest acts, like Cirque du Soleil and internationally renowned music groups. Children’s festivals, film festivals, folk celebrations and dance performances are just some of the other events that might be taking place during your trip. Check the calendar!

And we must not forget the country’s museums and art exhibitions, which have helped Andorra to stand out as an attractive cultural destination. In fact, Andorra is the country with the most museums per capita in the world! Its museum offering includes the Carmen Thyssen Museum, with different exhibitions every season and pieces by the greatest universal masters.

Of course, it goes without saying that going shopping is always a good option in Andorra. And you can do so almost every day of the year, as there are very few closed days in our commercial calendar. So, during your holiday or weekend break, make the most of all the shopping centres and shops available to you, with electronics, perfumes, cosmetics, fashion and much more at much lower prices than in France, Spain or any other country.

PLANS FOR THOSE WHO NEED A BREAK

If you’ve decided it’s time for a well-earned break, there’s no better place for it than Andorra. We are known for our thermal tourism, thanks to one of the biggest spa centres in Europe: Caldea, a pioneer in recreational spa experiences for families and couples. You will also find a host of massage and wellness centres spread out over all seven Andorran parishes, both as part of hotels and open to the general public.

Sometimes, rest and relaxation can be provided by the greenery of the mountains, a starry sky and the restorative silence of a rural getaway. Andorra is the perfect country break destination: it seems like time moves more slowly here.

Finally, you can sit back and relax as you tuck in to a meal at any of Andorra’s restaurants. The cold season is perfect for this, as our star dishes are winter warmers: escudella and trinxat. They will taste even better in our typical bordas: traditional mountain buildings that used to store grain and livestock, but have now been converted into charming restaurants. You will also find plenty of eateries in our urban centres, with international or haute cuisine specialities.

There are so many things to do in Andorra in the winter. Come and find out for yourself, and enjoy everything the snow season has to offer. You’ll want to come back right away!
