If you’re looking for a great travel plan to surprise your loved ones, we suggest a two-day getaway to Andorra, where you can explore nature and culture at the same time. You will discover a bit of the country’s steelmaking past on an easy hiking route that’s perfect to do with kids. And if you are also looking for more dynamic outdoor activities, we’ll give you some ideas to add some excitement and spark to your getaway.

It’s an itinerary that perfectly combines fun, nature and history!

Dia 1 (4 activities)

On the first day of your getaway we suggest visiting the Ordino Valley, where you can do a very easy nature hike that is full of history: the Iron Route. This 45-minute trail goes through the valley from La Cortinada to Llorts, taking you on a journey to the 19th century to learn about the country’s steelmaking past. On this peculiar route you’ll visit iron mines, see the sculptures that recall the processes for extracting and transporting this mineral, and taste water from the iron fountains.

When you finish you can get your strength back at one of the traditional Andorran mountain chalets serving the country's best summer dishes.

After lunch, head to Farga Rossell, a traditional forge where they explain how the mineral was transformed into iron ingots and how it was used in the country’s traditional architecture.

Dia 2 (4 activities)

On the second day get ready to have fun like you’ve never had before! Head to the Pal Arinsal Mountain Park, an adventure park located in the Pal ski resort, where you’ll find a multitude of outdoor activities for the whole family. Adventure trails in the trees, descents on karts, mushing, zip-lines, archery, and much more. You can choose the adventure that’s right for you. To get there you can take the chairlift that leaves from the centre of La Massana and drops you at the base of the resort.

If you want to get even more out of your day, head to the village of Ordino to get a bite to eat, either tapas, a homestyle lunch menu or a good savoury crepe. And to finish off the afternoon, take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old quarter, where you’ll discover charming nooks and crannies and can visit the Areny-Plandolit Museum or the Andorra Postal Museum.
