The River Upstream: a 12 km route that runs along the Valira du Nord river.

With very little elevation, it is accessible for the whole family, allowing you to discover traditional Andorra: its typical villages, the Roman church of St Martí de la Cortinada, the Iron Route, the Llorts mine and magnificent mountain landscapes.

The circuit begins at the Santa Barbara church (N4233.329 E1 31752) in Ordino, where you will take the Camí Ral, a wide trail. You just need to follow it upstream as far as Sornàs, where you will need to cross the road and a wooden bridge, and then continue to the Llorts iron mine, where you will need to cross the road again and pass behind the La Neu aparthotel.

Once you arrive at the village of El Serrat, after the Bringué hotel, continuing along the road, you will find a sign indicating the direction of the Sorteny Nature Park. Follow the trail to the Borda de Sorteny hut (N42 37.357 E1 33.845). This is a supervised hut where you can spend the night.

Finally, it should be noted that the Sorteny Nature Park has more than 700 species of flora and fauna.

For your safety, we recommend doing all routes above 1,700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. However, if the weather and terrain conditions allow it, the season may extend from May to October.

You’ll find more details about this and other routes in the Trails of Andorra Hiking Guide.
