This is one to avoid in winter and spring, as the altitude means there’ll still be snow well into springtime.

Start off in front of the Pas de la Casa Tourist Office, taking the main street to the steps that provide access to the slopes. Take the steps up to the ‘Isard park’ area, where you’ll begin the ascent along the path to the Coll de les Abelletes, and then on to the Coll dels Isards. When you get to the Coll dels Isards, turn right and you’ll see the summit of the Pic Negre d’Envalira, at the top of a grassy slope.

Go up over the summit and down the other side, where you’ll find some parts of the path strewn with boulders, and others where the trail isn’t clearly marked. You’ll come to the Collada de Joan Antoni, and from there it’s on down to the Grau Roig area. You can’t miss the beginning of the descent, although it’s not very clearly defined. That said, as you get further down the path become easier to see, and you’ll find markers that will lead you to the reservoir.

When you get to the lake, follow the trail down to a mountain pass, and then take a right turn up to the Coll Blanc, which you’ll be able to see in the distance as there’s a building up there that clearly stands out. When you reach the Coll Blanc, you’ll see Pas de la Casa below, so then it’s just straight on down, and back to the starting point.
