GRT 1, aka the Three Nations Trail, is a long-distance, cross-border route that is three to five stages long. The trail passes through Andorra as well as the Ariege and Pallars regions in France and Spain. Hikers can begin the trail in Vallferrera, Auzat-Vicdessos Valley or the parishes of Ordino and La Massana. The trail crosses the Valls del Comapedrosa Communal Natural Park, the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and the Pyrénées Ariegeoises Regional Natural Park.

Stages:

1. El Serrat (1,520 m), Llorts (1,430 m), L’Angonella refuge (2,235 m), Clot del Cavall (2,587 m), Les Fonts refuge (2,195 m). 5 h.

2. Les Fonts refuge, Pla de l’Estany refuge (2,050 m), Comapedrosa manned refuge (2,265 m). 3 h.

3. Comapedrosa refuge, Lake Negre (2,627 m), Port de Baiau (2,756 m), Montfort refuge (2,517 m), Vallferrera refuge (1,940 m). 4 h 30 min.

4. Vallferrera refuge, Port de Bouet (2,509 m), Orris du Carla (1676 m).  4 h 45 min.

5. Orris du Carla, Lake Picot (2,163 m), Fourcat refuge (2,445 m), Lake La Gouelle (2,139 m), Port de l’Arbella (2,601 m), Tristaina lakes (2,306 m), El Serrat. 6 h 30 min.

The trail takes between three and five days to complete, depending on the availability of refuges (open or manned) or other accommodation on the route, and at a pace that will allow you to enjoy the natural surroundings.
