Experiences beyond the typical

EXPERIENCES BEYOND THE TYPICAL

When you travel to another country, you get to know its towns and cities, its stories, and of course its people. But in Andorra, we want to give you more. As well as getting to know our culture and our roots, we also want you to have an amazing time! Undoubtedly, you already know that you can enjoy hundreds of activities here (such as hiking and horse-riding, to name just two). But what if we told you there’s so much more? If we offered you experiences that were wilder, more incredible and more exclusive than you’d ever imagined... would you try them? If you’re like us and you’re looking for more fun, craziness and adventure, you simply mustn’t miss the experiences we’ve planned for you.

Traversing all the way to the summit!

We know that reaching the top of a mountain is an incredible sensation; a combination of happiness and pride. But what if, instead of just climbing up to the summit, you traversed the entire massif? If you’ve never tried it, we can promise you that it’s one of the most fascinating experiences you can have in our mountains. From the lowest to the highest, you can traverse the most impressive ridges the country has to offer. And the reward? Reaching the summit!  But remember that before doing this activity, you should find out about the weather conditions on your route and make sure you have everything you need for your safety: harness, safety rope, appropriate footwear and clothing, food supplements, and above all a thorough knowledge of the area you're going to explore. In Andorra you can do this activity under your own steam, or let yourself be advised by our professional guides. Once you’re fully equipped, you’ll be ready to enjoy one of the most exciting adventures of your life!

Ordino’s solar mountain

Without a doubt, climbing up to the Tristaina viewpoint is a unique and enriching experience: not only because of the enormous sundial standing at an altitude of over 2,700 metres, but also because of the plant life, lakes and views you’ll encounter along the way. With two access routes to choose from, you can make your way there via the cable car and chair lift, or hike your way up (or even use snowshoes or skimo in winter). And that's not all: from this viewpoint, you can also observe one of the year’s most fascinating natural phenomena. At 7:37 a.m. every 7 August, the sun reaches the perfect position to allow its rays to pass through an enormous hole hidden among the rocks on the peak of Arcalís, projecting an enormous flash of light that can be seen from Tristaina. It’s a visual spectacle that will remain engraved in your memory forever!

Sleep under a dome

Another of the many opportunities we can’t let you miss is the experience of sleeping in the heart of nature. Andorra boasts an endless range of options for enjoying a unique night away: sleeping under the stars, in refuges, cosy cabins in the middle of the forest, canvas tents, and “glamping” in the purest sense of the term. But what about sleeping under a dome?  Inside this transparent circular structure you’ll enjoy a spectacular night-time experience: not only thanks to the unique charm of your location, but also because you can decide how much, or how little, you want to see. To top it all off, the offer includes transport in 4x4 to the Domo Lodge, and throughout your stay you’ll enjoy a catering service providing breakfast and dinner made with local products, to ensure an absolutely first-class experience!

Mindful hiking

Imagine exploring long trails that exude a sense of peace, tranquillity and well-being, in the heart of a wilderness where your only companion is silence. Doesn’t sound too bad, right? We love the idea, and it’s a concept we’re increasingly committed to. On our mindfulness trails, not only will you enjoy these moments alone with your “inner child”, you’ll also fill your lungs with some of the purest air in the world. Additionally, throughout the journey you’ll enjoy the ability to pay full attention to your surroundings: the birdsong, the wind whispering in the trees, the sound of the leaves crunching underfoot… a whole series of sensations that will envelop you, providing unique moments of well-being and inner peace that will help you to quieten your thoughts and your mind. A moment to pause, a moment for you, in which to rediscover yourself and return to your purest essence.

An adrenaline rush on two wheels!

Do you love mountain biking and descending at top speed through the forest? If your answer is “yes”, then you mustn’t miss out on our most thrilling activity! Andorra boasts a variety of places where you can indulge in your favourite pastime and get that adrenaline rush: the Bike Park at Pal Arinsal, located in the parish of La Massana; the Naturland Bike Centre at the Naturland outdoor activity centre in Sant Julià de Lòria; and for those looking for a range of circuits where they can practise acrobatics there’s Berques d’Arinsal, also in La Massana. In all of these locations you can perform your best spins and show off all of your skills. Just remember that in order to practise this sport you must be suitably kitted out with helmet, gloves and all of the necessary protection, in order to make sure you enjoy the activity in complete safety.

Crossing the border at an altitude of 2,000-plus metres

As you’re well aware, more than 90% of Andorra’s territory consists of natural spaces. Our natural heritage includes a wealth of mountains, peaks and lakes, plus countless trails waiting to be explored.  On this occasion, we suggest going one step beyond: we want your passion for hiking to know no bounds - in this case, quite literally! Andorra boasts numerous GR (long-distance) routes, some of which not only extend across the principality, but also cross over into the neighbouring countries of France and Spain. These routes include the GRP, which approaches both borders without crossing them; the GR11 and GR7, which start and end in Spain; and the GRT, which start and end in France.

But you don’t always have to follow a GR, as Andorra has many other routes that will also bring you close to both borders: these include the Estanys de Juclar trail, the Port Negre trails in Sant Julia de Lòria, and the Estanys Forcats trail.

As you can see, in Andorra there’s an endless range of options! You’ll find all types of activity here: from the most tranquil to the most adventurous. On this occasion, we’ve chosen some of the most unique options so that you can enjoy days that are truly exceptional, filled with incredible activities and sensations. And this is just a small sample of what Andorra has to offer. There’s so much more for you to discover!

So... are you up for it?
