Hiking: estany de juclà

We will start the walk to Juclà Lake on a forest track after crossing the river Incles, the track is surrounded by dry stone walls, mountain pine and alpen roses. When we get to the Travenc crossing, we will take the path that goes to the left and pass through a picnic area. We will go up the sunny mountainside and cross the river. From here, the path becomes steeper until we reach the Juclà plane. We cross the river Juclà once more as we climb to reach the first Juclà Lake, where the Pyrenean newt lives, an animal that can only live in very pure crystalline waters.

If we continue south east we come to the mountain hut of the same name, which is guarded and has a meal service in the summer. We will continue to follow the path marked with 3 yellow spots that goes around the lake and we come to the second Juclà Lake. We will come back the same way.

Ascent time: 2 h 10 min
Descent time: 1 h 40 min

The route starts at Km 3 on the narrow road to the Inclès Valley after Baladosa bridge (42° 36' 7",1° 41' 13").

For your safety, we recommend you do the routes at altitudes of over 1700 metres between the end of June and the end of September.

You will find further details of this and other routes in the Hiking guide Trails of Andorra.
