Church of Sant Andreu del Prat del Campanar

To find out more

This is a reconstruction of the primitive Romanesque church built in the same location which was destroyed by avalanches, first in the 13th century and later in the 17th.

This is a small rectangular church with a semi-circular apse to the east, the entrance door to the west and a single opening seated bell tower. Attached to the southern wall there is an annexe built in 1983 which contains the pantheon of the Rosell family from Andorra la Vella, the owners of the Church.

The excavation work between 1969 and 1973 was very fruitful and brought forth fragments of Romanesque mural painting, a large number of fragments of mediaeval pottery, a collection of coins dating back to the 12th century and a rough stone relic chest, as well as several burials.
