TOURIST BUS ROUTE 4: LANDSCAPES AND ROMANESQUE

Tourist bus route 4: landscapes and romanesque

Upon arrival at Encamp, we will visit the Church of Sant Miquel de La Mosquera and the Casa Cristo Ethnographic Museum. The church has not been dated precisely, but features a sixteenth century altarpiece on the main altar dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint John the Baptist, patron saints of the village of La Mosquera. The Casa Cristo Ethnographic Museum provides us with an example of life in a humble Andorran house in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

After the visit, we will continue in the direction of the Basilica Sanctuary of Meritxell, consecrated in honour of Santa Maria de Meritxell, patron saint of Andorra.

After the visit to Meritxell, we depart for the Parish of Canillo, where, by the side of the road, we will see the Romanesque church of Sant Joan de Caselles (12th century). The outstanding features of its exterior are the porches and the magnificent bell tower. Next door is the Motorcycle Museum, one of the most important in Europe for its collection of unique specimens dating from the early twentieth century up to the present day.

We then continue to the Roc del Quer Viewpoint, at an altitude of 2,000 metres, on the road from the Ordino pass, with spectacular views over the Montaup Valley, the Canillo Valley, the Pic de Casamanya mountain peak (2,740 m) and the typical Andorran rural cottages scattered over the surrounding meadows.

After this last stop, we return to Andorra la Vella, where the route finishes.

At all times during the trip we will be accompanied by a tour guide, with an audio guide available in four languages (Catalan, Spanish, French and English).
