Classical music and dance for everyone
The second CLÀSSICAND festival will feature a wide range of concerts, with everything from from chamber music to open-air film music and contemporary dance. Artistic director Joan Anton Rechi’s festival team has compiled a varied programme, with more names than ever before and a special focus on national artists.
2024 CLÀSSICAND programme
The songs of Pedro Almodóvar. Singer Pasión Vega performs the most iconic songs from the soundtracks of the Oscar-winning director from Castilla-La Mancha. 25 May at 8:30 pm. Ràdio Andorra gardens, Encamp.
The Triumph of Time and Truth by G.F. Handel. As performed by the Vespres d’Arnadí Baroque orchestra, featuring Helen Charlston (mezzo-soprano), Xavier Sabata (countertenor), Juan Sancho (tenor) and Katharina Ruckgaber (soprano). 31 May at 8:30 pm. Plaça del Consell General, Andorra la Vella.
Cocteau Trilogy / Glass. Katia and Marielle Labèque perform the instrumental suites for two pianos from the three operas that Philip Glass dedicated to Jean Cocteau. 1 June at 8:00 pm. National Auditorium of Andorra, Ordino.
Star Wars and the BSO by John Williams. Franz Schubert Filharmonia, led by conductor Tomàs Grau, plays the score of Star Wars and other major works by the legendary John Williams. 2 June at 8:00 pm. Santa Coloma car park, Andorra la Vella. Free concert.
Forbidden Fruit. Benjamin Appl. Recital by the Anglo-German baritone featuring select pieces from the Liederistic repertoire. 3 June at 8:00 pm. Sala dels Passos Perduts, Casa de la Vall, Andorra la Vella.
On the Nature of Rabbits. Stockholm 59° North. The prestigious Swedish dance company, with dancers from the Royal Swedish Ballet, presents a choreography created by Pontus Lidberg for the Venice Biennale in 2023. Santa Coloma car park, Andorra la Vella. Free concert.
Edgar Allan Poe. Lambert Wilson. The French actor and singer, with backing by harpist Xavier de Maistre, embark on a journey through the work of the master of Gothic terror. 8 June at 8:00 pm. National Auditorium of Andorra, Ordino.
Mirrors. A Petit Liceu production especially for the younger ones in the audience, featuring well-known opera arias, instrumental fragments and a never-before-seen song of its own, combined with dance by La Factoria Mascaró. 9 June at 12:00 pm and 17:00 pm. Teatre Comunal, Antic Carrer Major 24, Andorra la Vella.
CLÀSSIC-END. ONCA and vocalists. A very special closing event with the ONCA accompanied by two young Andorran vocal talents. A unique show in the heart of Andorra la Vella, in the Plaça Vinyes, next to the Plaça del Poble. On 9 June, at 7.30 pm. Free concert.
Harmonies of the 19th century, Tribute to Gabriel Fauré and his successors. The duo formed by Míriam Manubens, piano, and Carolina Bartumeu, cello, will perform some of the most emblematic pieces by Gabriel Fauré among others, also by French composers. 2 June at noon, Sant Martí de la Cortinada Church (Ordino). Free concert.
Winner of the Sax Fest 2024 competition. The Andorra Sax Fest is one of the most outstanding international musical events held in Andorra. Dmitry Pinchuk, the winner of this edition will give a concert, accompanied by Takahiro Mita, on 26 June at noon. Santa Coloma Church (Andorra la Vella). Free concert.
