Culture, tradition and performance

Sant Julià de Lòria is hosting an exhibition of masks that explores how society has used them in different places and at different times throughout history. It is a journey through countries around the world, revealing the differences and similarities between the characters represented by the masks found in each culture.

The bulk of the exhibition consists of 45 items from Nacho Rovira’s “Wings and Wind” collection. They are complemented by six local masks used in the traditional farce L’última ossa d’Ordino (“The Last Bear in Ordino”), which, together with other performances that take place in Encamp and villages in Spain and France, forms part of the Bear Festivities of the Pyrenees, which were granted Intangible Heritage of Humanity status by UNESCO.

Location and dates: Sala Sergi Mas, parish of Sant Julià de Lòria, until 2 March 2024.

For more information on the exhibition, contact the Department of Culture. Tel.: (+376) 744 044; cultura@comusantjulia.ad.
