60 Years of Asterix

From 16-06-2020 to 19-09-2020

The exhibition “60 Years of Asterix” offers you an opportunity to rediscover this key figure in the history of comic books.

The character created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo has reached the age of 60 and remains in good shape. To date, Asterix and his group of faithful companions (Obelix, Getafix, Dogmatix  and co.) have survived no fewer than 38 adventures: the most recent of which, Asterix and the Chieftain’s Daughter, can be explored as part of this exhibition. As its title suggests, the book (which is the fourth to be written by Jean-Yves Ferri and illustrated by Didier Conrad) features a female protagonist named Adrenalin, who is the daughter of the leader of the resistance movement against Rome.

Some 5 million copies of the book have been printed, in over 20 different languages: proof of the enormous popularity of Asterix and his latest escapade. Each year, more than 600,000 copies of the various titles in the saga are sold.

The exhibition “60 Years of Asterix” is part of the programme for the 2019-2020 French Culture Season in Andorra. The full programme for the French Culture Season is available on the website.
