Delve into the imagination of the designers who revolutionized haute couture

After World War II, the fashion world needed to be shaken from the greyness of military uniforms and heavy, thick, stiff fabrics. It was against this backdrop that in early 1947 Christian Dior presented his first spring-summer collection. It was a real revolution in fashion and broke with the rigid rules of the time. This “New Look”, which was what the collection came to be called, represented the hope of a happy future and a renewed ability to dream.

The sample from the Quinto-Tinarelli collection on exhibition at the CAEE illustrates the explosion of haute couture on the nineteen-fifties scene and how Paris became the world capital of fashion.

Different activities and workshops based on the exhibition will take place at Escaldes-Engordany Art Centre, which will remain open until 24 September.
