This viewpoint is next to the Sant Romà dels Vilars Church, in Escaldes-Engordany, 1131 m above sea level. To get there, just follow any of the paths that lead up to Engordany and connect with the Els Vilars path.
Thanks to its ideal position and south-facing orientation, this viewpoint offers both panoramic views over two parishes – Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella – and the perfect area for a walk all year round. It is also worth nothing that, from this vantage point, you can see the natural scenery of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004.
As for the viewpoint’s setting, it is surrounded by abundant vegetation, despite its position just a few metres from the urban area, so you are sure to feel in harmony with nature. This flora is mainly Mediterranean and made up of oaks, holm oaks, European nettle trees and elms among other species. When it comes to wildlife, you will be able to see and hear birds such as the blackbird, wren, blue tit, serin and more.
Sant Romà dels Vilars Church
Mere metres from the viewpoint, you can visit Sant Romà dels Vilars Church: a rudimentary, austere-looking construction that has been catalogued as one of Andorra’s oldest churches. The building consists of a small rectangular nave, a bell tower with a single opening, and a roof with a semicircular arch.
Finally, if you want to extend your walk, you could head to Can Diumenge, or even keep going until Coll de Jou.
