The Sant Jaume d’Engordany Viewpoint sits in a natural setting at 1100 m above sea level.
Located just a few metres from the urban centre of the village, this viewpoint offers breathtaking views over the surrounding parish – Escaldes-Engordany – as well as over Andorra la Vella and the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Cultural Landscape category in 2004.
Despite its central location, the vantage point is surrounded by mainly Mediterranean plantlife, such as oaks, holm oaks, elms and European nettle trees among others. As for wildlife in the area, you will mostly see a variety of bird species, such as blue tits, serins, blackbirds, and – smallest of all – wrens, among others.
Sant Jaume d’Engordany Church
Add a finishing touch to your visit to the viewpoint by heading to the nearby Sant Jaume d’Engordany Church. This contemporary church was built over an old eleventh-century monastery, which was demolished in the 1950s as it had fallen into disuse.
Finally, this is the perfect spot for a walk: as it is south-facing, temperatures are pleasant all year round.
To get to the Sant Jaume d’Engordany Viewpoint, follow any of the paths that lead to Engordany or to the Vilars Viewpoint, situated just a few metres away.
You will find more information about this and other guided walking routes in the Andorra Mountain Guide.
