This magnificent route introduces you to the bucolic village of Auvinyà, the natural surroundings of Solà del Mas, the ancient traditional huts of Mas and the old town of Aixirivall, with its manor houses and huts.

The route starts on the main Spain road at the first shopping centre, at the exit of the town of Sant Julià de Lòria. Follow the cobbled path where there is a sign indicating the start of  the Camí vell d'Auvinyà. The cobbles quickly give way to a mountain path that gains height until it reaches the town of Auvinyà, with cobbled streets full of details and craftsmanship reminiscent of a medieval mountain village.

You can also take a look at Sant Romà d’Auvinyà  church, a 17th-century building renovated in 1964 following designs by the Catalan architect César Martinell.

Once you leave the church, the path once again goes through the fields and meadows of the Camí del Mas. The route takes you to the river Auvinyà, which you can cross over the wooden bridge, known as the bridge of lovers, and return  to the path to the huts of the Mas.

Little by little you leave the fields and meadows behind to follow the old path of Solà del Mas, a cobbled path taking you to the crossing of the GR7 as it passes through Aixirivall.  Follow the yellow dots downhill, we will enter the old town of Aixirivall with the church of Sant Pere d'Aixirivall among the traditional manor houses .

Follow the road to return to a cobbled path that zigzags to the centre of Sant Julià de Lòria and the end of the route.

For your safety, we recommend doing all routes above 1700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. Weather and terrain conditions permitting, however, the season can run from May to October.

You'll find more details about this and other routes in the Trails of Andorra Hiking Guide.
