Exhibition of engravings as a precursor to abstractionism
The CAEE hosts a sample of engravings by one of the most influential abstract artists of the 20th century: Wassily Kandinsky. His engravings were an essential part of the development of his artistic personality and reflect the drive for experimentation. The graphic arts within his creative process became one of the channels he used to experiment with form, line and texture as an alternative to painting.
The CAEE is exhibiting a selection of engravings, some of which are printed at the Bauhaus, until 8th March 2025. The exhibition is a magnificent gateway to the universe of colour and form of Russian master Wassily Kandinsky.
