Sounds. Analogies between Music and Painting is a treat for both the eyes and the ears. The exhibition proposes thirty paintings from the Carmen Thyssen collection, grouped into eight different concepts – composition, cadence, time signature, movement, polyphony, acoustics, chord and harmony –
With the musical pieces that have been created especially for this exhibition by composers Kik Barroco, Luis Cartes, Luis Casahuga and Laura Garcia, the spectator can enjoy the plastic language through music. Sounds. Analogies between Music and Painting is an opportunity to feel the voices, sounds and music that inhabit the images and shapes in each of the paintings on display, which are all in some way linked to the concept of music.
It provides us with a three-dimensional reading that amplifies art’s multisensory nature. The paintings exhibited here invite us to share the sounds that surround and inspire the artists, including the murmur of conversations in the port by Martí i Alsina, Barrau's seamstresses discretely sharing secrets, Amat’s explosion of colour, the gentle breaking of waves by Bauck, the emptiness of Tàpies’ spaces and Perejaume's dancing flames.
Location and dates: You can visit the Sounds. Analogies between Music and Painting exhibition until 5 January 2025 at Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra in Escaldes-Engordany.
