INFLUENCERS IN ART. FROM VAN GOYEN TO POP ART

Del 6. Oktober al 6. September

The Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra presents its fourth exhibition: Influencers in art. From Van Goyen to Pop Art: the nexus between works of art from different periods.

Influencers in art. From Van Goyen to Pop Art, which can be viewed until September 2020 at the Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra, explores the interrelationship existing between works from different periods and styles as a product of the influential capacity that the artists have had.

Through the 27 pieces on display, three of which are sculptures, the exhibition offers visitors a journey through time. Along the way, they will discover the connections between the works on display, which are not always immediately apparent, always from the perspective of today's society, in which the focus is on speed and immediate consumption.

The Influencers in art. From Van Goyen to Pop Art exhibition aims to involve the spectator in the observation of each of the works, enabling them to look beyond the more obvious confluences and explore how works of different styles and from different periods, sometimes entirely different centuries, can share similarities. One such example is the connection between a Baroque piece from the 17th century by Francisco Antolínez y Ochoa, with two abstract works: Canya by Antonio Saura and California Dreams 2 by the pop artist Antonio De Felipe. The latter is also an exclusive creation by the artist for MCTA, specifically for this exhibition.

Along with the exhibition, the Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra has developed an extensive programme of related activities, which will continually rotate until the exhibition comes to a close. The museum, which has established itself as a cultural benchmark in the Principality within a short period of time, is fast becoming one of the most attractive new venues on the European cultural scene.

Place and dates: Influencers in art. From Van Goyen to Pop Art will be open until 6 September 2020 at the Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra.

More information about the exhibition, tickets and activities can be found on the Museum.
