Its steepness (670 metres) and duration (6 hours) make it a difficult route.

The Camí de Canòlich starts at an altitude of 930 metres on the road from Aixovall CG-6 to Bixessarri, at Km 0.7 just in front of a large water tank. To the left there is a small bridge over the River d’Ós where we will start to walk following the signs with 3 yellow spots. We will cross a Scots pine forest to els Meners spring at alt. 1,115m, and if we continue the hard climb up the mountain we will reach the Collet Purgat pass.

The climb is very demanding and then levels out towards the Collet Martí mountain hut, where we will find a spring to cool down. This section is very pleasant as it offers us a beautiful view of the whole valley. If we carry on, we will have to drop slightly to a crossing point where we will take the path to the right towards Canòlic. The last section of the climb will go up the mountainside to the Canòlich Sanctuary, alt. 1,652. This is a good route to be done in the summer as it faces the north and is also very shady. We can go back down the way we came up or provide a vehicle in the area of the sanctuary to come down by road.

The route starts at Km 0.7 on the road to Aixovall, CG-6 (42º 28' 19.023", 1º 29' 4.6278").

For your safety, we recommend you do the routes at altitudes of over 1,700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. However, if the weather and terrain conditions allow it, the season may extend from May to October.

You will find further details of this and other routes in the Hiking guide Trails of Andorra.
