The route follows the Ramió canal and the Els Matxos trail to the Coll de Jovell mountain pass.
Together with the canal, this trail was built in the 1940s to supply Engolasters Lake with water. From the picnic site at the Font dels Corralets (spring), the canal passes through a tunnel to reach Ramió in the Madriu Valley.
Descend from the Coll de Jovell to the spring and Closa picnic site before heading upriver via La Tossa canal, where some of the effects of 1982’s torrential rain can still be witnessed.
Follow the CS-200 towards Engolasters and pass the magnificent chapel of Sant Miquel de Engolasters before heading towards Engolasters Lake. At a bend in the road just after km 6, there is a car park with a small wooden house on the right (information point in summer). The route starts here.
