Different popular “castanyades” are held in Andorra for All Saints.
The descent of the Font Negre mountain pass peak is an easy route in Grandvalira.
Start point: Grau Roig ski resort car park or the village of el Pas de la Casa. The best ways from el Pas de la Casa on the Font Negre ski lift or Abelletes chairlift, and if we are coming from Grau Roig, on the Pic Blanc ski lift. If we want to get there without using the lifts, we will have to do so from les Abelletes in the village of el Pas de la Casa, climbing the line of the les Abelletes chairlift. In either case we will have to set out for the Coll dels Isards mountain pass, climbing it along the crest leading us to the Font Negre mountain pass in around 30 minutes. Once there, we will climb the crest of the Pic del Port de Font Negre to 2,744 m in about 20 minutes. Once at the peak we will see the winding corridor dropping down the northern side.
Descent: A very beautiful north facing corridor in the French area from the peak itself at 2,744 m and ending in a wide area at 2,500 m. It is generally fairly wide and comfortable with a maximum gradient of 40°-45° which helps us to do it fluidly as far as the exit.
The snow conditions are normally good thanks to its northern orientation. We can return to the village of el Pas de la Casa following the valley going around the les Abelletes peak and leading to the les Abelletes lake and the ski resort.
Parking area: (42°31'58.09"N and 1°42'1.36"E).
