The valley was a kind of natural chemist’s essential for the life of these people. The Fontvers route starts at km 6.2 of the road to Engolasters (from Escaldes-Engordany), where there is a car park.

We will start to walk following the Camí dels Matxos (GR 11) to the Jovell mountain pass and continue down the south side of the Madriu, passing a scree and coming to a point where we cross the Camí de Muntanya (over les Bordes de Ràmio). We will continue to the Fontverd plain (identifiable by an animal gate), where there is the Fontverd cabin and mountain hut, where we will stop. Further on we will go down to the crossing point with the Solà de Ràmio, indicated with a signpost and large spot. From this point, we will follow the GR to the Circuit de les Fonts, which will take us back to our start.

For your safety, we recommend you do the routes at altitudes of over 1,700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. However, if the weather and terrain conditions allow it, the season may extend from May to October.
